Specialized in corneal and ocular surface diseases at Harvard Medical School in 2009-2011. Attained the title of associate professor in 2012 and professor in 2017. Received numerous national and international awards for his advanced work (ARVO - Asia Travel Fellowship Grant award, Gazi Ophthalmology Association's 'Best scientific article award', ARVO Collaborative Research Fellowship Award, ICO Helmerich Fellowship Award, ICO WOC Fellowship Award, Royal College of Ophthalmologists Best Reviewer Award, Turkish Academy of Sciences Award for Excellent Young Scientists). Has over 300 research articles published on national and international journals and books. Member to: Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and Turkish Ophthalmology Association (TOD).
