She was awarded the title “Associate Professor” in 2000 and “Professor” in 2006.
She was the Head of the Department of Cardiology, School of Medicine, Kocaeli University from 2008 to 2014, the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, Kocaeli University from 2012 to 2016 and the Head of Experimental and Clinical Research Center, Kocaeli University from 2007 to 2016.
She was a member of Human Research Ethics Committee from 2006 to 2009 and the Deputy Head of Human Research Ethics Committee from 2009 to 2015.
She was the Coordinator of the National CVD Prevention Programme for Turkey from 2008 to 2012.
She was the Head of Women’s Cardiac Health Project Group in the Turkish Society of Cardiology from 2012 to 2014.
She is still a member of the Competency Board in the Turkish Society of Cardiology, and also a Chief Editor for Archives of the Turkish Society of Cardiology.
She has authored more than 200 articles published in local and international journals, one clinical cardiology book and 5 book chapters in various cardiology books.

Principal areas of clinical interest:
- Heart failure,
- Treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
