  • Director of Koç University İş Bank Research Center for Infectious Diseases (KUISCID). 
  • Member to Turkish Academy of Sciences and Turkish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (which he chaired for one term). 
  • Board member to European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). 
  • Some of the awards he won:  
    • Bayındır Hospital Research Award, 2004. 
    • Turkish Medical Association’s Prof. Dr. Nusret Fişek Public Health Scientific Award, 2007. 
    • Koç University Outstanding Research Award, 2017. 
    • Edited 3 books and authored 150 articles as well as 15 book chapters published on national and international scale.
