Neurology

Completed residency at the Department of Neurology at İstanbul School of Medicine in 1986.
Received theoretical and applied education in the fields of muscle pathology, enzyme histochemistry and immunohistochemistry from Prof. W. King Engel, M.D., and Prof. Valeria Askanas, M.D., as a “research fellow” at the University of Southern California between 1989 and 1991.
Attained the title of associate professor in 1992 and professor in 1998.
Attended the Department of Neurology at İstanbul School of Medicine as a Faculty Member at the Branch of Neuromuscular Diseases between 1993 and 2014, and undertook the position of Head of the Department for two terms.
Established the Neuromuscular Diseases Research Laboratory at İstanbul School of Medicine, actively conducted muscular pathology studies and managed the laboratory between 1991 and 2014.
Served as Vice Chair of the Turkish Neurological Society, Moderator of the Neuromuscular Diseases Scientific Workgroup at the Turkish Neurological Society, Vice Chair of the European Alliance of Neuromuscular Disorders Associations (EAMDA), Chair of the European Alliance of Neuromuscular Disorders Associations (EAMDA) and Chair of the World Alliance of Neuromuscular Disorders Associations (WANDA).
