Prof. Vedat Aytekin, M.D.

Cardiology

He was Head of Invasive Cardiology Unit and Cardiology Department of Florence Nightingale Hospital from 1994 to 2017.
He actively performed and supervised more than 100 diagnostic angiography, more than 25 balloon dilatation and stent implantation for diseases of coronary arteries/peripheral arteries, TAVI and other invasive cardiology procedures.
He focused on physiology of coronary arteries (FFR, IFR), intra-coronary imaging techniques (IVUS, OCT) and CT Coronary Angiography.
He was secretary, Vice President and President of Invasive Cardiology Work Group of the Turkish Society of Cardiology from 1998 to 2004.
He was Treasurer and Vice President in the Executive Board of the Turkish Society of Cardiology from 1999 to 2006.
He was elected as “Next President” in May 2018. He is also President of “Scientific Committee and National Cardiology Congress” and “Coordination Office of Young Cardiologist Sub-Group” of the Society.
He was President of Istanbul Association of Invasive Cardiology Academy from 2009 to 2018.
In addition to the Chronic Total Occlusion Club, where he took role in foundation, he is member of European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI).
