PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGY

Pediatric Neurology Clinic of Koç University Hospital adopts a multidisciplinary approach and uses detailed laboratory and radiology tests for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of neurologic diseases that develop in the age range of 0 to 18 years. Our clinic delivers services in all areas of pediatric neurology based on the confidence originating from a team that is respected at both national and international scale. Emergency neurologic problems and critical neurologic diseases can be monitored in pediatric in-patient clinic or pediatric intensive care unit. Moreover, our Muscle Diseases Center admits pediatric patients two days a week. Our patients with cerebral palsy are examined by the Cerebral Palsy Council, which holds meeting in cooperation with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopedics clinics.

• Treatment and supervision of children with diagnosis of febrile convulsion and epilepsy,
• Monitoring the patients with drug-resistant epilepsy regarding non-pharmacologic treatments such as Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS),
• Identification of conditions that develop in childhood and that are confused with epileptic seizures (non-epileptic paroxysmal events), differential diagnostic study with video EEG monitoring,
• Follow-up of patients with cerebral palsy; arranging their education and physiotherapy,
• Supervision of neurologic developmental stages in children, developmental tests such as Denver test for early diagnosis of the children with retardation and support programs,
• Diagnosis, treatment and supervision of headache in childhood,
• Diagnosis and management of treatment for increased intracranial pressure,
• Diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders (dystonia, tremor, chorea etc.),
• Routine EEG, sleep EEG and video EEG monitoring, review of resultant data,
• Diagnosis and follow-up of muscle (myopathy) and nervous (neuropathy) system diseases,
• Diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of autoimmune and demyelinating diseases that occur in childhood (Acute Demyelinating Encephalomyelitis, Transverse Myelitis, Multiple Sclerosis etc.),
