We recommend that persistent or recurring wheezing, cough and shortness of breath in children should not be ignored and children with such complaints are brought to a pediatric pulmonologist for assessment.

Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Division focuses on acute or chronic diseases of the respiratory system.

Following procedures and tests are performed for patients who present to our department, when required:
  • Flexible bronchoscopy (performed by a physician with academic title, anesthesiologist and nurse of our department in a special room at interventional area to observe, assess and sample upper respiratory tracts and airways in certain days of the week),
  • Radiologic imaging,
  • Pulmonary Function Tests (Spirometry),
  • Impulse oscillometry (IOS),
  • Body pletismography,
  • Carbon monoxide diffusion capacity,
  • Sweat test, skin test.

Moreover, tracheostomized children are monitored in our department and non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP, CPAP, respiratory support without intubation) and home ventilation (respiratory support at home and monitoring) are performed.
  • Along with outpatients, various patients with respiratory problems are followed up in inpatient clinic, pediatric intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Pulmonary Function Test Laboratory: Spirometry, impulse oscillometry (IOS), body pletismography and carbon monoxide diffusion capacity measuring can be performed.
  • Bronchoscopy unit: Flexible bronchoscopy can be performed under anesthesia for children of all age groups, including newborn infants.
