  • Has rendered liver transplant on a routine and acceptable treatment in medical literature for adults and children with liver failure.
  • Started Liver Transplant Program at Wisconsin University in 1983 and supervised the program for 25 years.
  • Has carried out more than 1.500 transplant surgeries, including the first liver transplant in Wisconsin, the first divided (from adult to child) liver transplant, the first cluster & quot (of all abdominal organs) transplant, the  first liver transplant from living adult donor to living adult recipient, the first pediatric liver transplant and liver transplant to the youngest pediatric patient in the state.
  • Has pioneered using Belzer UW organ preservation fluid in clinical liver transplants.
