Koç University Health, Training Research and Practice Center (Koç University Hospital) began operations as a training and research hospital in September 2014.
The hospital located on the Koç University Health Sciences Campus in Topkapı, Istanbul, aims to "implement current medical approaches with the highest quality and transparency." Covering an area of 220,000 square meters, the Health Sciences Campus includes the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, research laboratories, and the "Advanced Learning and Simulation Center". The Health Sciences Campus aims to contribute to the creation of qualified human resources in the healthcare sector with its innovative approach and dynamic team that meets North American standards. Koç University Faculty of Medicine students complete the first three years of their education at the university's Rumelifeneri Campus and, starting in the fourth year, continue their clinically oriented education at Koç University Hospital.
Koç University Faculty of Medicine
Koç University was founded in 1993 by the Vehbi Koç Foundation. The University, initially located in the Istinye Campus, moved to its location in Rumelifeneri in 2000 after the completion of the construction of its new campus. The Koç University Board of Trustees decided to establish a Faculty of Medicine in 2008, and the Council of Higher Education approved this decision on 15.01.2009. The establishment of a Faculty of Medicine affiliated with Koç University was legally approved by the decision of the Council of Ministers on 13.04.2009.
Under the management of Founding Dean Şevket Ruacan, all necessary preparations were completed and the faculty was allowed to accept students and begin education with the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 08.04.2010. The faculty started education in 2010 with 40 students, 20 of whom received full scholarships and 20 of whom received half scholarships, through OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center).
The land required for the Koç University Health Sciences Campus to be built in the Topkapı area was provided by the Vehbi Koç Foundation and transferred to the university. An US-based company won the international competition for buildings to be constructed on this land. The construction began in 2011 after the designed project was approved.
The first phase of the project, which includes the University Hospital, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing education and research areas, student dormitories and social units, was opened in September 2014, and medical students began their clinical training in this new location.
- Koç University Faculty of Medicine held its first graduation ceremony in 2016.
- Koç University Faculty of Medicine has been granted full accreditation status until 2024 by the National Board of Accreditation of Medical Education (UTEAK) of the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education Programs (TEPDAD).
- KUTTAM (Koç University Translational Medicine Research Center) was established.
- KUISCID (Koç University İş Bankası Infectious Diseases and Research and Practice Center) was established.

Koç University Faculty of Nursing
Koç University Faculty of Nursing was established as a School of Nursing in 1999 as a result of collaboration with Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, one of the top five schools in the world.
Our school, which will continue its path as a Faculty starting from the 2016-2017 Academic Year, aims to train inquisitive and investigative leader nurses who use evidence-based knowledge, think critically, question, respect human rights and values, have the ability to learn throughout life, can take part in the development, protection, treatment and rehabilitation of human health with a holistic approach, are open to change, and have the ability to express themselves in accordance with legal and ethical principles.
The international accreditation process of our school has been completed by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), which is one of the most respected accreditation organizations in the field of nursing in the United States of America. Therefore, Koç University Faculty of Medicine became the first and only faculty in Türkiye accredited by ACEN.
Our faculty, with its strong academic staff recognized nationally and internationally, makes education much more effective, comfortable, and enjoyable with its modern building on the Topkapı Health Sciences Campus, advanced technological equipment, contemporary service approach, classrooms equipped with audiovisual equipment, conference halls, fully equipped simulation laboratories that provide learning by practice, computer laboratories, cafeteria, and recreation areas. The Health Sciences Library located within the Topkapı Health Sciences Campus, houses the most qualified, up-to-date and rich printed and digital resources on nursing in Türkiye.
The social development of our students is also supported through club activities carried out in our faculty. Our students also benefit from the rich cultural and social activities taking place at Koç University Rumelifeneri Campus.
The Faculty of Nursing provides clinical and field training opportunities to its students at Vehbi Koç Foundation Healthcare Institutions and other collaborating institutions. It is ensured that students take on the responsibility of providing care at universal standards and becoming an innovative power source in the healthcare sector.
Students who have successfully completed four years of education after the preparatory class can receive a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Our graduates, who have the opportunity to find employment throughout Türkiye, can also work abroad thanks to the advantages provided by the education they receive and continue their master's and doctoral programs domestically and abroad.
