Prof. Pınar Fırat, M.D.


  • Received cytopathology education in 1990-1996 at Southwest Regional Cytology Training Center in the UK, Indiana University-Center of Medicine, Department of Cytopathology in the USA, and Karolinska Institute’s Department of Clinical Cytology in Switzerland.
  • Attained the title of associate professor in 2002 and professor in 2007.
  • Under the Geraldine C. Zeiler scholarship, attended Mayo Clinic in the USA as an observer in pulmonary pathology in 2009.
  • Has over 70 articles published on international journals; authored chapters in national and international books; and edited one international book.
  • Undertook the positions of head of the “European Society of Pathology- Cytopathology Working Group” in 2006-2010; head of “Turkish Thoracic Society and Federation of Pathology Associations, Pulmonary Pathology Working Group” in 2010-2012; chairperson of the “Turkish Society of Cytopathology” in 2014-2016; and Board Member of “Federation of Pathology Associations”.
