Adenitis is the swelling, known as inflammation, of an infection-fighting node, called a lymph node. It's caused by an infection. A bite or scratch from an animal can cause it. One node or a group of nodes can be affected.
The gland or node may be swollen and tender. There can be fever. The skin over the node might feel warm.
Treatment may include antibiotics and other medicines . Sometimes, testing to find the cause, draining the nodes or removing the nodes might be needed.
