The team of faculty members and specialists forming the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Koç University School of Medicine undertake research and education activities along with clinical services in order to utilize the latest medical practices in diagnosis and treatment under the light of evidence-based data. The principle of respecting preferences of patients is never compromised at any point of diagnostic and treatment processes.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology staff consists of 9 faculty members and 8 specialist physicians. Students receive innovative education enriched with learning-oriented interactive educational strategies at the department. Collaboration and multidisciplinary approach are quintessential for our team, which strives to maintain a consistent high quality standard while serving patients in various clinical areas. In this regard, weekly multidisciplinary meetings are held at the department for the purpose of deciding on the most accurate treatment/diagnostic methods and practices.

Obstetrics

Ensuring that expecting mothers enjoy a safe and comfortable pregnancy experience ranks first among the priorities of all physicians and team members staffed at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In line with this priority, the “Delivery Room” on the third floor of Koç University Hospital has been equipped with the latest technology so as to cover all details necessary for a healthy, comfortable and safe delivery. Our single rooms, each designed as an LDR (Labor-Delivery Room), allow observation of both low- and high-risk patients. Our level III neonatal intensive care unit, where experienced neonatologists work closely with the delivery room team, is located on the same floor too.

Next to conventional delivery observations under epidural analgesia, we practice a number of assistive techniques to ease labor and facilitate delivery like respiratory exercise, massage, acupressure, aromatherapy, phytotherapy, homeopathy, hot/cold application, birthing ball and pushing position.
